City of Isleton Announces Appointment of New Fire Chief

The City of Isleton is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Mimiaga as Volunteer
Fire Chief of the Isleton Fire Department. Chief Mimiaga brings strong leadership,
organizational skills, and a commitment to ensuring the department remains structured and
operational during this critical time.
As the City navigates the financial challenges facing the fire department and transitions from a
part-paid to a fully volunteer model, strong leadership is essential to maintaining effective
emergency response and coordination with neighboring agencies. Chief Mimiaga’s experience in
transportation, compliance, and emergency services will play a key role in ensuring the
department remains functional and prepared to serve the community.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Chief Kyle Merkins for his service and
dedication to the Isleton Fire Department. His leadership and commitment to the community
have been invaluable, and we are grateful for his continued support during this transition.
We invite the Isleton community to join us in welcoming Chief Mimiaga and supporting him in
his new role as he works to strengthen and guide our volunteer fire department through this
transition.
